Fresh Ideas for Your Slow Cooker

Author(s): Annette Yates

World Cookbooks

Forget everything you thought you knew about slow cooking! This is the book that shows what a slow cooker can really do. Currently enjoying phenomenal popularity in our kitchens, slow cookers are still perceived by many as 'stew pots' for casseroles and the like. Not any more! Annette Yates and Norma Miller's book breaks the mould with over 100 contemporary recipes. Presenting breakfasts, home-cooked 'take-aways', dishes made with rice, grains or pasta, and even cool cakes with unusual flavours and textures, this will be a hit with anyone already familiar with slow cooking (particularly the suggestions for livening up their existing favourites with crunchy toppings, dumplings, pastries and chutneys, for instance) as well as those getting to grips with their first slow cooker. Already respected for the simplicity and reliability of their recipes, the authors make life easier still by including a handy recipe index, with dishes categorised by the cooking and preparation time required.

Product Information

"the recipes in this handy, inexpensive book [are] great news for lovers of home cooked food" AllThatWomenWant.co.uk

After many years living in and around London, Annette now lives near Abergavenny in Monmouthshire, Wales. She is married to Huw Thomas and has two grown-up daughters. Her hobbies include walking the Welsh hills, furniture restoration, gardening and, of course, cookery. Norma lives in West Sussex with her husband Christopher. She was the cookery editor of a major monthly magazine and she set up the TasteTalk food agency with Annette. Her published work includes several cookery books and many magazine articles. Both Annette and Norma love cooking and creating new recipes. In particular, they love cooking and eating out of doors. Though living in Wales often makes this a difficult pastime, Annette has a clay oven in her garden (for days when she is sure the weather is going to stay fine) and a gas barbecue (for cooking between showers of rain!). They both claim that their family and friends are usually the best (and most honest) critics of their culinary creations! As TasteTalk, Annette and Norma are busy food consultants, writing cookbooks, contributing to consumer magazines, developing recipes for leaflets, features and books, giving and organising cookery demonstrations, styling food for photography, consulting for cooking equipment companies, running a consumer advice line on food and cooking, and editing publications for schools. They are members of the Guild of Food Writers and the Microwave Association, and fellows of the Institute of Home Economics.
